CHENG YU
She is a Taiwan-based artist whose creative practice spans performance, video, internet memes, and painting. Her work focuses on politics, power dynamics, scent, social class, and image interfaces, presenting contemporary Taiwanese social issues with a touch of wit. Through installations and paintings, she explores the impact of digital tools on modern human existence. Characterized by performance art that intervenes in public spaces, her practice often integrates video, memes, and social media tactics, generating tension and public discourse through humor and paradox.
Her themes interrogate the boundaries of power, encompassing Taiwanese authoritarian politics, migrant worker culture, social hierarchy, and feminism. Adept at using internet operations to project these societal contradictions out for public debate, she aims to push art beyond the traditional "white cube." By leveraging the current power of the internet, she brings new artistic possibilities into society, crafting a narrative style that breaks free from the confines of the conventional art world. Her works have been selected for and honored by multiple art awards, and have been screened and exhibited across major cities including Taipei, Kaohsiung, Tainan, and Hualien.

她是一位來自台灣的藝術家，創作形式涵蓋行為、影像、網路迷因與繪畫。她創作關注在政治、權力、氣味、階級與影像介面，作品以詼諧的方式呈現當代台灣社會議題，裝置及繪畫的創作探討數位工具對當代人的影響。作品以行為介入公共場域為特色，經常結合影像、迷因與社群媒體操作，透過幽默與矛盾的方式製造張力與討論。
她作品主題與權力邊界，主題涵蓋台灣權威政治、移工文化、階級及女性等議題，她擅長利用網路操作
將這些矛盾丟出去給社會討論。她希望將藝術跳出白盒子，利用當今的網路力量將藝術的可能帶給社會，創造出跳出藝術圈敘事方式。她的作品曾獲2025《高雄獎》入選、2024《南瀛獎》 影像與新媒體類 類別首獎、《台南美展》佳作等多個藝術獎項。
